Hope's Peak Academy is home to Japan's best and brightest high school students—the beacons of hope for the future.
But that hope suddenly dies when Makoto Naegi and his classmates find themselves imprisoned in the school, cut off from the outside world and subject to the whims of a strange, murderous little bear named Monokuma.
He pits the students against each other, promising freedom to anyone who can murder a fellow classmate and get away with it.

In "Danganronpa" you will participate in a series of class trials, where you must refute the lies and inconsistencies of your surviving classmates to determine the culprit behind each grisly murder. In each trial, your classmates' assertions must be literally shot down using "Logic Bullets" that consist of the evidence and testimony you gathered during your investigation. Combining logical deduction, thrilling action, and top-notch voice acting, "Danganronpa" offers an exciting and wholly original gaming experience.
2.5D Graphics in Motion
By placing 2D illustrated characters and objects in a 3D space, the game creates a unique multidimensional setting. WIthin this environment, the camera work and motion animation helps to fully realize a remarkable 2.5D approach and provides a more stylish, engrossing world to explore.
The Class Trial
In "Danganronpa" you'll dive into a series of class trials and expose the lies and contradictions of your classmates in order to find out who's behind each grisly murder. In each trial, you'll have to use the evidence and testimony collected during your investigation to literally shoot down your opponent's assertions. By combining logic and motion, "Danganronpa" offers an exciting and unprecedented gaming experience.

The stage is set at Hope's Peak Academy, a private high school where the nation's most "ultimate" students come to fulfill their potential.
Hope's Peak lives up to its name as the hope of the nation, and it's said that once you graduate, you're set for life.
